[ SWUnleashed Rules ] { Characters }
A- Skill Leveling
|
- Skill Points will be spent on a one to one basis. Starting skill points will be 25,
and you will gain 3 points per level.
- Levels 6 and up can only be learned by recieveing training from a master NPC in that skill.
The time and cost of such training will be incorporated into a SWUM scenario.
- There is no skill cap for skills. However, by focusing all skill points into a few select skills,
a character will be highly specialized and extremely vulnerable in certain situations.

B- Skill Categories
|
- There are six categories of skills- General Skills, Ground Skills, Space Skills, Social
Skills, Science Skills, and Specialized Skills. Each category contains several different skills
pertaining to that category.
- The General Skills category encompass all skills that are used outside of battle that require
phyiscal activity to be accomplished.
- The Ground Skills category has all skills that are used in combat while on the ground.
- The Space Skills category is made up of all skills that are used in combat while in space.
- The Social Skills category holds all skills that are used with NPCs.
- The Science Skills category includes all skills that pertain to any kind of research and development.
- The Specialized Skills category contains many skills that are unique enough to not fit into any general field.

C- General Skills
|
- Strength: The higher the Strength skill of a character, the more weight they can
carry and the more life the character has. This skill increases a character's maximum weight
allowance and adds life to the character at each level gain.
- Dexterity: By being able to move body parts, such as fingers and hands, faster than normal,
a character can save time doing things. Higher levels of Dexterity will decrease the length of time
it takes to perform manual tasks.
- Perception: Oftentimes things are not what they seem. A higher level in this skill
allows a character to understand the world around him better as well as allow a him to view more
planetary units on the screen.
- Jumping: The ability to jump to locations otherwise unreachable can be a valuable skill.
- Speed: Being able to move faster saves time on performing many actions. A character can move to
faster from place to place and perform most actions in less time.
- Hide/Sneak: When sneaking around, a character moves at half speed but cannot be noticed
at a glance. Another character must perform a Search check or have a high Perception skill level
to notice a sneaking character. The skill level also determines how well a character can hide from
others and how easy it will be for them to spot him without searching.
- Search: Performing a search on an area will reveal hidden objects, whether they be
items, weapons, or other characters. The skill level determines how well of a search the
character can perform.
- Stamina: An increased Dexterity skill allows a character to perform actions for a longer period
of time.
- Swimming: In order to cross a bridgeless river or reach an island on foot, a
character must swim. The skill level determines how fast a character can swim. The maximum
amount of time a character can swim depends on the character's Stamina skill.
- Survival: A working knowledge of survival in the wild will allow a character to
survive longer in hostile situations. The higher the skill level, the longer a character can
endure.

D- Ground Skills
|
- Brawling: It is important to be able to defend oneself in a hand-to-hand fight as well as to hold
one's offense. This skill improves a character's brawling ability immensely.
- Melee Combat: When fighting with melee weapons, this skill is required for certain
combat moves. Certain levels are also required to be able to perform some moves.
- Dodge: When in combat, the best way to avoid being hit is to dodge. An increased level
in this skill will improve the swiftness of a character's dodge. The Dodge skill is also affected by
a characters Speed skill level.
- Thrown Weapons: An increased Thrown Weapons skill level allows a character to throw
grenades and other weapons farther and with greater accuracy.
- Demolitions: The ability to handle, wield, and dispose of explosives can be a very
valueable skill both in and out of combat. The Demolitions skill provide a character with the knowledge
to put explosives to their most damaging use.
- Combat Accuracy: When in a fight between characters, a higher level in this skill allows
a character to attack with more precision.
- Light Ranged Combat: When firing a ranged weapon, a higher level in this skill allows
a character to aim and fire light projectile weapons with more precision.
- Medium Ranged Combat: When firing a ranged weapon, a higher level in this skill allows
a character to aim and fire medium projectile weapons with more precision.
- Heavy Ranged Combat: When firing a ranged weapon, a higher level in this skill allows
a character to aim and fire heavy projectile weapons with more precision.
- Vehicle Piloting: Any character can pilot a vehicle, but only those with a high
skill level will be able to pilot with minimal effort, allowing him or her to concentrate on
other things.
- Vehicle Weapons Accuracy: It takes skill to fire vehicle weapons. A higher level will
give a character more accuracy and precision when firing.

E- Space Skills
|
- Astronavigation: Anyone can pilot a ship with a hyperdrive due to the nav computer
held within, but preprogrammed routes are not always the best possible way to go. With this
skill, a character can cut distance and time off of travel routes.
- Capital Ship Piloting: Any character can pilot a capital ship, but only those with
a high skill level will be able to fly with minimal effort, allowing him or her to concentrate
on other things.
- Capital Weapons Accuracy: It takes skill to fire starship weapons. A higher level
will give a character more accuracy and precision when firing capital ship weapons.
- Freighter Piloting: Any character can pilot a freighter, but only those with
a high skill level will be able to fly with minimal effort, allowing him or her to concentrate
on other things.
- Freighter Weapons Accuracy: It takes skill to fire starship weapons. A higher level
will give a character more accuracy and precision when firing from a freighter.
- Starfighter Piloting: Not just any character can pilot a fighter. Only those
with a skill level will be able to fly at all because of the high level of skill required
to successfully pilot one.
- Starfighter Weapons Accuracy: It takes skill to fire starship weapons. A higher level
will give a character more accuracy and precision when firing from a starfighter.

F- Social Skills
|
- Diplomacy: Being able to deal with government officials is a very important skill.
The Diplomacy skill grants a character the ability to sway NPC government officials into
taking your side.
- Business: It is important for any businessman to understand how business works. This
skill allows a character the ability to deal with NPC's on the business level.
- Languages: In order to understand other languages without a translator, a character
must know this skill. Higher levels allow a character to translate faster and more easily.
- Trade: When dealing with NPC's, a character can get a better deal with a higher
level in this skill by bargaining and haggling.
- Law Enforcement: A knowledge of the law is important for any businessman or civilian.
A higher skill level a character has allows a character to avoid breaking laws and to know how
to get around others.
- Intimidation: By intimidating an NPC, they will do what you ask. However, penalties
may be involved. A highter Intimidation skill level minimizes the chances of penalties.
- Persuasion: An increased persuasion skill allows a character to persuade NPC's to do
things they might not otherwise do.

G- Science Skills
|
- Blueprints: In order to use a datacard for the first time, someone needs to be able to read the
blueprints on it. A higher blueprints skill level allows a character to read blueprints faster, letting
the actual R&D start sooner.
- Weapon R&D: In order to research and develop weapons, a scientist must have the
weapons R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop weapons faster and with
more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Vehicle R&D: In order to research and develop vehicles, a scientist must have the
vehicles R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop vehicles faster and
with more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Starship R&D: In order to research and develop starships, a scientist must have the
starships R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop starships faster and
with more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Medicine R&D: In order to research and develop medicines, a scientist must have the
medicine R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop medicines faster and
with more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Droid R&D: In order to research and develop droids, a scientist must have the
droids R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop droids faster and with
more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Item R&D: In order to research and develop items, a scientist must have the
items R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop items faster and with
more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Building R&D: In order to research and develop buildings, a scientist must have the
buildings R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop buildings faster and
with more accuracy towards the desired plan.
- Computer Systems R&D: In order to research and develop computer, a scientist must have the
computer systems R&D skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to develop computers faster and
with more accuracy towards the desired plan.

H- Specialized Skills
|
- Beast Handling: In order to ride an animal, this skill must be know. Some animals
require a higher level to be ridden. Also, animals cannot be trained until a character is level
6 in this skill.
- Medicine: Being able to heal oneself is a very valuable skill. A higher skill level
will allow a character to administer better aid, thus healing more hit points in a shorter
amount of time.
- Computer Operation: It takes time to link into a holonet or computer network. With this
skill, a character can shorten wait time or even slice into a computer and pull data from it.
- Civil Command: The ability to command NPC's is highly valued. Higher levels in this skill
allow a character to command more civilian NPC's at a time.
- Ground Command: The ability to command NPC's is highly valued. Higher levels in this skill
allow a character to command more ground-based military NPC's at a time.
- Space Command: The ability to command NPC's is highly valued. Higher levels in this skill
allow a character to command more space-based military NPC's at a time.
- Armor Repair: In order to repair armor of any type, a character must know this
skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to repair armor faster. This skill can
only be used at an items factory.
- Droid Repair: In order to repair a droid of any type, a character must know this
skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to repair a droid faster. This skill can
only be used at a droid factory.
- Vehicle Repair: In order to repair a vehicle of any type, a character must know this
skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to repair a vehicle faster. This skill can
only be used at a vehicle factory.
- Ship Repair: In order to repair a ship of any type, a character must know this
skill. A higher skill level will allow a character to ship a droid faster. This skill can
only be used at a ship factory.
- Pick Pocketing: If a player is short on cash, he can use his character to steal money
from the pockets of others. This skill takes a minimal amount of credits on the player
according to the skill level.
- Prospecting: Any faction that wants to mine resources must use first find them.
A character with the Prospecting skill can decrease the amount of time needed to find a place to mine.
- Manufacturing: This skill allows a character to more efficiently manufacture items,
weapons, ships, and more. Higher levels decrease production time.
